⁸ But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

⁸ But sin used this command to arouse all kinds of covetous desires within me! If there were no law, sin would not have that power.

⁸ But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.
